From 2009 onwards, the conference that originated in the Netherlands may be organized by universities in other European countries once every two years.

In practice, venues of Going Romance outside the Netherlands were organised and took place in Nice France (2009), Leuven Belgium (2012) and Lisboa Portugal (2014).
